D-Day: Normandy 1944 World Premier in London
Yesterday the stereoscopic film Normandy 1944 was shown for the first time at the 3D Creative Summit
Executive Producer and President of UP3D Sylvain Grain introduced the 45 minute documentary film which used stereoscopic 3D to help tell story of the Normandy 1944 D-Day landings.
The film uses a variety of 3D techniques including natively shot footage, computer generated imagery, 2D animation and post converted iconic still imagery from the historic event.
Following the premier Sylvain Grain hosted a short Q&A where he revealed that Normandy 1944 is due to be released in IMAX later this year but they have yet to secure a distribution deal in the UK.
The film was shown to a cinema packed with 3D experts spanning numerous areas of the film industry and was very well received with one strereographer stating that “if there had been educational resources like this when I was at school then I would be much better informed about world history now”
